I am not fun of Beauty pageants but with this Miss Universe 2015, my interest caught because its probably the most controversial coronation in pageant history and we took home the crown. Here are the 10 things that people should know about Miss Universe and its related facts with the Philippines.

1.It has been 42 years since the crown of Ms. Universe was held by a Filipina.

The Philippines’ bet Pia Alonzo-Wurtzbach ended the decades–long drought and took home the most prestigious title in the pageant world.

2. A Filipino designed both the gown for the first time – the national costume & evening gown of Pia.

Filipino designer Albert Andrada designed Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach’s national costume and evening gown with a singular concept — meant to showcase the Pearl of the Orient or the capital of the Philippines, Manila.

3. First Miss Universe married a Filipino.

The youngest, meanwhile, is first-ever Miss Universe Armi Kuusela of Finland who won the title in 1952 at 17 years old. She married Filipino businessman Virgilio Hilario in 1953 after a short courtship.

4.  Miss Pia’s first runner up Ariadna from Columbia is a cousin of previous crowned Ms. Universe.

Ariadna María Gutiérrez Arévalo first runner up of Miss Universe 2016 is cousin’s with Miss Universe 2015, Paulina Vega, also from Colombia.

5. Steve Harvey had interview no one after the coronation. 

 After host Steve Harvey announced the wrong winner Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez. He want to interview and ask forgiveness to the two ladies who involved and hurts on the incident. First person he interviewed is Ms. Universe Philippines and on next day is Ms. Columbia in his show.

6. Three famous artist that links to Miss Universe After she won the crown.James Franco (American) , Siwon of SuperJunior (Korea) , and our own Atom (Pinoy) are the 3 gentlemen links to Ms. Universe Pia. Who do you think will win the heart of our Miss Universe?
7. Powerful man links to Miss Universe before the coronation night .

8. Most of the Miss Universe delegates or contestants are mixed-blood.

Ms. Pia half Filipina -half German researched the background of other ladies before the Ms. Universe pageant night, she found out most of the contestant are mixed-blood.  Whose ancestors belonged to two or more races , same as her, most of the delegates are also mixed-blood.
9. Miss Pia Alonzo-Wurtzbach, compete 3 years in a row to get the crown as Bb. Pilipinas 2015.

It may have taken 3 tries for the Philippines’ Pia Wurtzbach to make it to the Miss Universe pageant – but all her hard work has paid off as she is crowned Miss Universe 2015. Let’s take a look back at her journey here.

It took Wurtzbach three attempts before finally becoming the Philippines’ bet to the Miss Universe.  She first joined the Miss Universe-Philippines pageant in 2013 but she only finished first runner-up. In 2014, she again tried the pageant but only got in the top 15 after she was asked to answer the question and answer portion in Filipino even when the other judges were English-speaking. She finally won the Binibining Pilipinas crown as the country’s official bet to the Miss Universe this year.

Yes you are right, It’s Miss Pia Wurtzback, not the Miss Universe staff or employee. Our own Miss Universe is the Whatsaps Admin and the one who’s created the group chat so that all girls in different country will be connected  before they will see each other on the 3 weeks rehearsal. I am addicted with her capabilities especially her positive outlook.  Her beauty is up to the max and her wisdom…priceless!  She will do great  being a Miss Universe, one of the best Ambassadors from the Philippines and she represents a true woman in the World, a Universe rather with a heart. All her interviews before the crowning were epic. She said it all the clues to be the Miss Universe 2015.
She is fully equipped with knowledge, poise, positive words and yet  humble.  I salute her mother of raising her that way. To be a reachable beauty Queen is an essence of a true human being.

I admit, our country, the Philippines is not as rich as other countries in the world.  But it is really evident that there are things money can’t buy in this world, like class, manners and wit. Some of us are poor, yes.  But I’m proud to say, we have priceless things, like the things I already mentioned.
